Leisure Activities

There are plenty of restaurants a short drive away catering for every taste. There are also some lovely beaches nearby, often with restaurants & bars on site.

From Kyrenia Harbour you can take a day trip by boat along the coast, eat a hearty lunch on board in between stopping off at secluded coves for a swim. Boats normally depart around 10-10:30am and return around 4-5pm.

On many of these boat trips, you can arrange jet-skiing or para-sailing.

Also in Kyrenia, you can book to go hang-gliding from the slopes west of St Hilarion (at 750m).

Drive up the Karpaz for miles of empty golden sands, a donkey sanctuary, old villages and a monastery.

Golf

Korinium golf club is an 18 hole championship golf course nestled in the mountain side located approximately 40 mins drive from Villa Efessu on the main Esentepe coast road. Everything you require including clubs are available for hire at the golf club. There is also a 9 hole course about 15 mins drive to the West at Yesilyurt.

Turtle Watching/Rescue

Alagadi Beach is east of Kyrenia where they have the turtle project. In July/August they arrange visits where you can help release baby turtles back into the sea at night.

Nature

Spring and autumn are perfect for walking in the foothills, look out for the many species of indigenous wild orchids and as it's the prime migratory route for many birds it's a great opportunity to see them in their natural habitat.

Diving

There are numerous scuba diving centres catering to all skill levels and with visibility of up to 30 meters and warm water all year round, it's a great place to explore.

Winery Tour

In Ilgaz (up the mountain behind the villa) is the new Gillham Vineyard  Hotel & Etel Winery.  They offer tours of the winery, vineyards and various wine tastings.  They have a wine bar which often has live music and tourist information centre.

How about...

...If you still have some energy, you could try horse riding, 10-pin bowling, go-karting, live music events, and mountain safaris.
